Getting around Prague
Public transport in Prague is excellent. It is reasonably priced, efficient, and covers the majority of the city.
Metro
Underground, there are only three lines, A - green; B -yellow, C- red
All three lines are crossing bellow the Wenceslaus’s square.
Operating hours: 5 a.m. - midnight.
Trams
- On surface, marked with numbers 1-26. Intervals 8-15 minutes
Day operating hours: 4:30 a.m. - 12:15 a.m.
Night trams are those with blue numbers 50-59. Night time interval is 30 minutes.
Central night-time transfer point is at Lazarska stop
Buses
- operating primarily in suburbs, connecting distant area with metro end stations.
Intervals: 5-20 minutes
Night- time numbers: 501-512
TICKETS
Tickets can be bought from machines and ticket offices at metro stations or kiosks, but not onboard trams or buses!
Tickets are valid for all three types of transportation.
Do not forget to validate your ticket as soon as you start your journey by inserting it into yellow validating machines.
NOTE: twice stamped ticket becomes invalid.
single - non transferable ticket costs CZK 24,- is valid for up to 30 minutes on trams and buses, and up to 30 minutes in metro, where you can change between lines, however you cannot go further than 5 stops!
Transferable ticket costs CZK 32, - and can be used for metro, trams and buses, as well as transfers among those for up to 90 minutes.
